Oh (my gawd) Chien

I *heart* Oh Chien!!

Now Playing : "Delicate" - Damien Rice

(Don't mind me, I'm just being paranoid.)

Crap. I've dunnit again! Why do I always eat extra after discovering that I've lost more weight? Someone should slap me, really.

Yesterday, I announced that I reached my target short-term weight, right? Well earlier tonight I ate oh chien and lo bak go--of all things!! We were going to a coffee shop to eat probably noodles or something and I thought "ok, what are my other options for a low fat dinner?" So I nominated going for lok-lok and my family agreed. After all, how fattening could dipping whatever you deem as low fat into a pot of boiling water be?

Man. Man, oh man. I ordered luo han go. Sweet freaking tea. Sweet! Another word for extra sugar I don't need! Then I ate, without control, all that oily goodness of the fried oyster omelette and fried radish cake. Fried!! Also another word for fats I *really* don't need!

So much for self-restraint that I'm sooooo preachy about! Bleh, I'm gonna punish myself by not allowing myself a cheat weekend! I know I won't gain back 2-3 pounds by this setback, but it really sucks to know that I let go during a weekday. Ugh!

I'm so tempted to step on the scale now...

New Target

Now Playing : "(You Knocked Me) Off My Feet" - Sondre Lerche

Before you think this post is about some assassin check list, it's actually about some really, really great news!! Today, I stepped on to the scale and found out that I've achieved my goal of losing 20 pounds by December 31st!! (Since October 19)

YAY I DID IT!! *hops with glee*

Immediately I threw on a couple of clothes I got from my trip to Hong Kong last May that I never wore because well, you know why, and voila! It fit!! Woot woot!!

Howeverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

I can't celebrate prematurely because there were still some pieces that made me look like a hot air balloon. Here's where the "new target" comes in; now that my short term goal was reached, I'm making a new short term goal and that is to lose another 10 pounds (I've got 45 pounds to go) by Chinese New Year! That's 40 days to get the job done and I've got to get crankin' right away!

Wooooo I'm soooo happy that this time the diet regime is working out!

I didn't eat the cupcake shown below--since it was just way too fattening and I'm not into desserts anyway and my Christmas miracle was knocking on the door--but it was just so pretty that I had to show you guys! For those who actually want to pursue this piece of mouth bliss, you can get it at Ms.Reed's sister restaurant in Megamall. I forgot the name of the place though but it's directly opposite Starbucks and beside the walkway to Gardens.

Happy eating! ;)

Smelly Fingers (Updated w/ Photos!)

Now Playing : "Say Ok" - Vanessa Hudgens

Just a mini post for now, I'm blogging from the kitchen and we're cooking tonight's Christmas Eve dinner and it's beginning to look and smell simply fabulous! I've been helping my mother prepare all the ingredients before and as she cooks and each ingredient I touch, my fingers will smell exactly like them afterwards!

I held bacon, mushrooms, celery, cheese and a myriad of other things and I'm pretty sure if my fingers were in line to go into the microwave I bet the mixed aroma would make anyone salivate!

Got kinda cannibalistic there...oops! Anyhoos, I'll be back later with pictures of our dinner (if I remember to take them hahaha!) so lookout for an update, folks!

Christmas Eve dinner (L-R) : Baked stuffed chicken, potato+veggie+organic pasta salad, lamb pie, stuffed mushrooms.

My Christmas presents for this year! Thank you everyone!

Where da Xmas carols?

Tomorrow is Christmas...which makes today Christmas Eve and you would think that in this situation, I would have Christmas carols on loop in my head but nuuuuuu!!! Instead, I have these two songs playing over and over non-stop in my head and it got so bad that I just had to take my iPod and start listening to it on never-ending loop and to top it off, sing!! Still, they are great songs and I definitely recommend a listen!

Jon McLaughlin and his very sing songy ballad "So Close"

You're in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I'm with you
So close to feeling alive

A life goes by
Romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
And now you're beside me and look how far we've come
So far we are so close

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We're so close
To reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let's go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

Vanessa Hudgens and her twinkly-smooth "Say Ok"

You are fine

You are sweet

But I'm still a bit naive with my heart

When you're close I don't breathe

I can't find the words to speak

I feel sparks

But I don't wanna be into you

If you are not looking for true love, oh oh

No I don't wanna start seeing you

If I can't be your only one

So tell me when it's not alright

When it's not ok

Will you try to make me feel better?

Will you say alright? (say alright)

Will you say ok? (Say ok)

Will you stick with me through whatever?

Or run away

(Say that it's gonna be alright. That it's gonna be ok)

Say Ok.

When you call I don't know if I should pick up the phone every time

I'm not like all my friends who keep calling up the boys, I'm so shy

But I don't wanna be into you

If you don't treat me the right way

See I can only start seeing you

If you can make my heart feel safe (feel safe)

When it's not alright

When it's not ok

Will you try to make me feel better?

Will you say alright? (say alright)

Will you say ok? (Say ok)

Will you stick with me through whatever?

Or run away

(Say that it's gonna be alright. That it's gonna be ok

Don't run away, don't run away)

Let me know if it's gonna be you

Boy, you've got some things to prove

Let me know that you'll keep me safe

I don't want you to run away so

Let me know that you'll call on time

Let me know that you won't be shy

Will you wipe my tears away

Will you hold me closer

When it's not alright

When it's not ok

Will you try to make me feel better

Will you say alright? (say alright)

Will you say ok? (Say ok)

Will you stick with me through whatever?

Or run away

(Say that it's gonna be alright. That it's gonna be ok)

Say OK

(Don't run away, don't run away)

(Say that it's gonna be alright. That it's gonna be ok, don't run away)

Will you say OK

(Say that it's gonna be alright. That it's gonna be ok)

Roxx

Lookie my spankin' new Red Roxx!

Now Playing : "Snow Brigade" - Mew

Imagine this;

I am a self-confessed audiophile.

Three weeks ago the best pair of earphones I've ever put into my ears got ruined.

Oh, the torture having to downgrade to the insufferable Apple earphones!! Due to a negligence of mine for not saving the proof of purchase, I was unable to get a free replacement and so I've been on the hunt to buy new ones.

E-mailed Machines to see if they carry the product. No answer. Some customer service!

One...two...three weeks pass on. Ears getting itchy, iPod getting severely underused. Must...get...new...V-Modas!!

I seriously contemplated buying them direct from their website, but shipping would probably cost a bomb...plus, I'd probably have to wait even longer for it to arrive.

Then today, a stroke of luck! EpiCentre at the Pavilion has them!! WOOT WOOT!! Since the black cable literally tore on my last black V-Moda Vibes, I decided to get the red ones which actually look pretty cool contrary to what I first perceived and they have different cables so fingers crossed!

Alas, my journey for audio perfection has not been kind on my wallet. Now I'm totally, totally broke. *Sniff* Shelling out RM438 for these beauties was absolutely worth it and contrary to what you might think, totally necessary. ;)

Back to audio bliss!!

From The Sidelines

"Because you're hoping you're wrong. And every time she does something that tells you she's no good, you ignore it. And every time she comes through and surprises you, she wins you over, and you lose that argument with yourself, that she's not for you."

The Scale Is My Frenemy Pt. 2

If you're wondering why my weighing scale looks kinda dodgy,
it's most likely because it's friggin' old. XD

Now Playing : "Still Fighting It" - Ben Folds

Aiyo.

OK, I've got good news and I've got bad news but we'll start with the good news first since it makes people (i.e me) happy. :D

Good news is that I've successfully lost 15 pounds in my personal battle of the bulge. Yippee!

Bad news is *sniffles* that that's all I've lost since I started this diet 8 weeks ago! Do I need to mention that I've got another 50 pounds to go before I reach my desired weight?

OKlah, technically I'm not really supposed to be rushing things since my goal is August next year, just in time for graduation *sings*..! but you know, it would be nice, like, really really nice if the scale needle would like, you know, keep on going to the left maybe one or two notches each week. *coughcoughhintcough* XD

But I guess it's understandable since this month is the month of Eats (woot Christmas!) but then again, so is next month (woot Chinese New Year!!...or is that in Feb? Meh, I can't remember) aaaaaaiiiiiiieeeeeee!!

Maybe it's time to change the scale to a spankin' new one?

Xmas Party!

I know it's yet another photo of Puddles but the rest of the pictures taken last night during the Christmas party aren't that great. So to save everyone (including my photo taking skills) some embarrassment, I'm not gonna upload any of them!

But I do want to say thank you so much to my friends who were there yesterday, you guys made it special and especially fun and I hope to see you guys again for all the parties to come! Woot woot!

Because Fred said I should blog about it.

All roaches follow suit please.

Now Semi-Watching : "Thundercats"

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooossssssssssss!!!!!!!!

Eeeeee-yeeewwwww!!!!

Aaaaaaaiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure I screamed and whimpered more than that. I just had a cockroach walk past my face on my laptop and in a nanosecond I leaped off my bed. Did I mention that I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY HATE BUGS??!??!?!?!

More so, I'm afraid of them. *sniff*

But mostly, just downright disgusted.

But it was on my bed, and it was nearly 4am, and I had to get some sleep soon and I just really didn't want to be in the same vicinity as a cockroach--let alone in bed with one of them (....) AND I JUST WANTED IT OFF MY BED!!

But I just...can't...touch...it...i-it's so icky..and...eewwy...and...ugh.

But Fred, I could really hug you right now. Wooo hoooo!!!!

Pieces of Me

Now Playing : "All I Got" - Newton Faulkner

I'm sorry.

It's the only thing I can say for not posting daily as I used to. I admit, it's not been a very fun blog of late, and the mood strikes naught lately. Inspiration only casts a line every now and then, and if I'm lucky, I'll catch on.

It's not rocket science to figure me out. I am pretty transparent, I suppose since I make no reservations in letting others know my emotions unless truly necessary. But, no matter how strong you try to be for yourself and others, if the one key element that makes you whole is not there, you're just a little broken. Inside.

And you'll remain incomplete until the missing puzzle piece finds its way back to fill that hole--that void--in you.

I am broken. But not without hope.

Still, it takes a toll. Everywhere I go, everything I see and everything I hear...in some way one or another, is connected to that missing piece. Not by obsession but by experience. By knowledge. The name of a video game, an Army marching song, someone else's missing piece present.

Hope is the best thing I've got right now. Family...of all kinds keeps the hope in me gluing the pieces of me together. Family of blood, of friends and of the one your heart most desires.

With them, I am still with hope.

Cameron Highlands

I just returned from a wonderful short trip to Cameron Highlands and let me just say that if you thought Frazer's Hill or Genting Highlands are cold, you probably wouldn't want to go to Cameron Highlands because it was freakin' cold up there at 16 degrees! Since C.H is located near the peak of a mountain, there were plenty of opportunities for me to finally put some use in to my camera's macro function and I went into a snapping frenzy with all the splendid flora around! I took nearly 200 pictures, but here are just some of my favorites (not including the ones with family). I must say I'm quite proud of these *blush*

Scary Maze

I remember the first (and only) time I played this game was when my ex, Aliff told me to play it and I was all alone during the wee hours of the night with the volume turned right up and my face was so freaking near the screen! The moment that face came on, I ran like hell away from the computer and refused to look at the screen when I gathered my guts to go back to the computer to immediately cut the power to the computer!! After that, I refused to talk to him for over a week! :P

If you want to play the game, just Google "scary maze".

KLCC

My new temporary dragon tat

Now Playing : "Feels Like Home" - Newton Faulkner

While on my way to the place I'm going to discuss later on *smirk*, I was in the LRT minding my own business when four teenage girls came on board and stood next to me. They talked and laughed really loudly and even sat on the floor, which kind of irritated me but it's not really something you'd pull your AK-47 out at. Then, as the journey progressed, one of the girls let go of the metal pole and proceeded to take out her nail polish and paint her nails. While standing-cum-balancing in the mega shaky train. I watched.

The she spilled the bottle of nail polish on to her shirt. Screams of "FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!" whilst frantically trying to wipe off the polish from her shirt erupted in the train. I smirked for the rest of the journey. I'm cruel, I know.

Anyway, I was out with the family today at KLCC and if you might recall, I have been to Aquaria at least four times--three times more often than any Malaysian should go since the attractions there don't always change and that it costs a bomb to enter--and yes, you guessed it, today I visited the aquarium again since Ian craved to see some fish.

First of all, let me tell you that I was surprised during this visit. Notice I didn't say pleasantly. First off, my mother had a pet peeve that no one was manning the touch pool and with sharks--albeit non-dangerous bamboo sharks. I'd hate to see the end result of children poking endlessly at them.

Secondly, it was quite obvious that Aquaria's fish stock has noticeably diminished. In the tunnel thingy, we spotted only three sharks and two stingrays. Even the other schools of fish seemed to be missing quite a few members. Also, all the baby turtles were missing.

Very, very odd.

We couldn't figure it out and kept drawing possible conclusions, one of which was perhaps the fish here got poisoned too! Then, it hit us. The most likely reason would be that Aquaria transferred some (or like half) of its fish stock (sounding like a menu now) to the sabo-ed Langkawi aquarium. We wallowed in our genius. Anyone want to hop over to Langkawi's aquarium to check?

The trip wasn't too bad in any case, since two mini mini mini displays of jellyfish were put up, including some non-aquatic animals like an owl, a giant squirrel, a bearcat, leopard cat and a civet. Do they even live near an ocean?

Also, we got temporary tattoos! Ian got a Pikachu, June had two tats which I can't really remember its design and I got a dragon on my left arm! So normally I wouldn't go for dragons and stuff like that--it's more of what Jules would probably get--but as soon as I saw this I liked it.

And you know what they say about love at first sight...

Rise of Nations

Tonight's event will truly be forever and ever etched into my memory. Why?

Because I BEAT Ian in Rise of Nations!!

It was a four hour battle and over four thousand clicks between us, but in the end the soreness of our fingers and our aching backs were totally worth the time spent. And to think, that I learned how to play this game only yesterday--although I did spend 6 hours familiarizing myself with it last night hehe!

LOL I guess at this point in time I really am one of those people with too much time on my hands! But being a person who isn't really interested in computer games, this game is very interesting and had captured my attention from the moment I saw Phil playing it. Now that I've played--and won--this game, I think I'm hooked for life!

Before you hand me a snide remark saying that it's no big deal, Ian's only 9 years old...that's true, he really is just 9 years old but he's the (obsessive) gamer in the family and he's a really smart kid especially when it comes to games and to beat him--well, let's just say I'll be bragging to him about it for awhile! *wink*

Ahh...I shall sleep tonight (or what's left of tonight, since the battle ended at 4am) with a huge grin on my face. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The A/C With A Mind of Its Own

Now Playing : "Cash Machine" - Hard-Fi

I don't get my air-conditioner. Seriously.

One moment it's freezing like the Arctic, the next it's sweltering like the Sahara. It's been *repaired* numerous and countless times and yet it's still toying with us. Many times I feel like yelling at it...

"Hey buddy, if I wanted a heater
I'd get one--in Greenland!"

And it's not just the sweating that I hate when my a/c decides to switch personalities to becoming a heater, but I fear for all the electronics in the room which does seem to become hotter than usual. I don't need a multiple personality disorder a/c!

Yes yes, I know what you would say. Buy a new a/c! I can tell you veeeery honestly that yes, I wish I could but who would give me--willingly--a thousand bucks for a new a/c? I don't have that kind of money or else I most certainly would chuck this defective a/c out the window.

And now my laptop is overheating. *Sigh*

Nuts about nuts

Ladies and gentlemen
presenting
yours truly's
diet snacks.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaah!

(Actually it's quite good but still LOL)

The Scale Is My Frenemy

Now Playing : www.theclassicalstation.org

I want a new body.
I want a new body.
I want a new body.

*Clicks heels three times*

Bleh! If only it was as easy peasy as Dorothy's method. Sooo, updates updates. Well, I've lost a total of 12 pounds since I started dieting on Oct 19 and although I admit it's taking rather slow to shed the pounds, I'm glad that I haven't broken my diet woohoo! and that I do see some results in the mirror--which sadly, does not reflect on the scales. Ho hum.

Also, this time I've been keeping a diet diary of sorts. Hopefully this technique would help me not to abandon my diet (again) and lead me to my desired (and I really do mean desired ;) ) weight.

I've also found it quite hard to motivate myself to get my lazy ass on to the treadmill, and June, Jules and Fred have been nagging me to join Fitness First gym. To tell the truth, I'd rather do my exercise on my own--you know, something in private. Does it sound odd? I had considered joining True Fitness gym because 1. they have a pool and 2. nobody I know would be there, but after reading numerous negative remarks of that place, that is now not an option for me.

Ah well, I'll figure something out. ;)

Beautiful beautiful

Now Playing : "Twilight and Shadow" - Howard Shore ROTK(OST)

My eyes swelled with clear, salty liquid and the tiny beads of tears trickled down my cheeks. My heart beat faster with each overwhelming sight and sound. Ah...memories of my first viewing of The Lord of the Rings : The Return of The King at the cinema come flashing back.

What a truly, truly beautiful film that supersedes all other movies ever made. I have seen this movie (including its trilogy) many, many times and just a moment ago after completing yet another LOTR marathon...I am left incredibly overwhelmed once again and the tears naturally and instantly pour out. Oh, what a true genius mix of storytelling, music and technology!

Peter Jackson. you. absolutely. undoubtedly. rock.

Trio

Now Playing : "Tonight" - Hard-Fi

Happy 22nd Birthday, Jules!!!
Finals are finally over!!!
I got a totally new haircut!!!

Trio.

I would have posted more pictures of tonight's fun fun fun birthday celebration but I think Jules is going to take care of that on her blog. I hope you'll find my gift veeery useful and if you don't, don't tell me anyway hahaha! I absolutely enjoyed myself immensely during our little joyride in the car and it was the fun fun fun time that was the cause of all the giggles and the hysterical laughter and not the alcohol!

Look! Nice pictures of us!

Likey my new haircut?
(Wish I had a better picture boo!)
