Look, No Touch

Yes, I know.

It's not even October yet and I've already gotten a birthday present for my mother. At the moment, it's on display on the dining table and will be until the 23rd. She'll have to look at it each and every time she wants to go to the kitchen--and come out of it. I wonder if she's tempted to pry the sides open...hmm! Oh well, could be fun watching her resist for almost a month! Heehee!

The truth about me and buying presents is that I love to do it. Birthdays, Christmas or just-for-fun, I try to find excuses to buy the people I love and/or care for things whenever I see something that makes me think of them. I normally think about what I'm going to get someone a birthday/Christmas present at least a few months ahead and always set out to buy it one month in advance.

Except...

...when I have no idea what to get! :P

Velkommen!

I got word that my godparents, Linda and Ole had requested my blog address from my dad. I haven't met them since I was 8 years old so here's a BIG shout out to you both! I hoped you have learned more about us while my dad was in Denmark and wished I could have come along to visit! Hopefully, your visit to my blog will bring you more up to speed with what's been happening in our lives (OKOK, mine mostly since this blog is central to it :P).

To make things easier, here's a list of posts containing lots of pictures (so you don't have to wade through tons of posts to get to the juicy bits!)

My grandma's birthday (just. look. at. the. colorful. cake.)

My holiday in Florida '08 - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

...meh...the list is shorter than I expected.

Enjoy!

Worrywart

A few days ago, a friend had asked me what I thought my weakness was.

For a long time, I had always assumed it was food since I've been really overweight all my life--well, that is up until this year.

Something happened tonight that has made me suddenly realize that I was wrong.

My biggest weakness, is infact, my tendency to become paranoid even at the smallest of worries and doubts.

Food, I can control. I've learnt that.

To stop worrying, I've yet to master the art.

Tonight's incidence--for all I know--is probably nothing at all, but I realize that even the smallest things striking at heart can make me worry to death. Then I get paranoid. Really paranoid.

It was something I did a month ago out of excitement even though quite premature...but it was something to be happy about, nonetheless. Nobody noticed, which was good and I liked it that way. Then tonight I happily extended the hand of assimilation to a couple of important people, foolishly forgetting about what I had done. Then so many people started noticing.

And now they know.

The most frustrating thing is that the internet disguises a reaction.

News travels extremely fast. Based on one foolish act, I may have thrown several important people's emotions around. Assumedly, if the worst case scenario goes. It's not the fact that I don't want them to know--I do, I'm just not the one who's supposed to tell them. The one person who can make me feel better is unavailable. This, makes me worry all the more so.

I can't stop worrying. I can't sleep and I have a stomachache.

I want to be able to tell myself and believe when I say "it's probably nothing to be worried about" / "you'll be fine" / "it'll work out" yadda yadda...

But I can't bring myself to believe it.

Even after being proved wrong on so many occasions.

How do I stop?

Snowball Fight!!

The highlight of my day at work today

Because I simply can't resist Memes

The Other Su made me do this...and I willingly did :D

RULE #1 People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves.

RULE #2 Tag 6 people to do this quiz and they cannot refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by and cannot tag the person whom they were tagged by continue this game by sending it to other people.

1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
Demand an explanation to be given right there and then. No such thing as barging away to get some "air".

2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
To be a killer whale researcher. Actually, to have Eva Longoria's body with Stephen Hawking's brain would be dream enough. :P

3. Whose butt would you like to kick?
George Bush.

4. What would you do with a billion dollars?
Save. Invest. Spluuuurge!

5. Will you fall in love with your best friend?

Being loved by someone.

7. How long do you intend to wait for someone you really love?
As long as I can convince myself to.

James Franco!

10. What takes you down the fastest?
Paranoia.

11. How would you see yourself in ten years’ time?

Death...of the people I love.

Groan.

16. Would you give all in a relationship?
Shouldn't you?

17. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously, who would you pick?

18. Would you forgive and forget no matter how horrible a thing that special someone has done?
It is always more humble to forgive but smarter to not forget.

Selfishness.

Meet Pryce

To the little handful of people who helped me decide between the Nokia E71 and a Blackberry Bold, thank you so much for your advice because once I had my new (and first) and sexay smartphone in my possession, I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH IT!!

And yes, I named it. You knew I would ;)

Soooo...with Pryce's unveiling, here was my Monday in extremely limited pictures!!

Guitar Hero Party!

In order to have a successful Guitar Hero party, you need the following:

1. Awesome food
2. Guitars
3. No less than FOUR Guitar Hero games
4. Great fun friends
5. A camera

A fun night requires fun food!

June and her friends having a go at GH

Great friends having loads of fun trying to beat each other!

And of course, little brothers make good accompanying dancers! XD

Old friends gearing up their "rocker" faces!

Oh, and if you're wondering why these pictures are kinda grainy, that's because I used my new cell phone to take them. That's right, I went out and got myself one last night after my old one kaputed. Which, do you ask? Well, you'll find out tomorrow :D

Liquidity

Let me tell you about my shopping spree today. I haven't had one in a looong time (my recent trip to Florida doesn't count, since I spent more on other people than on myself) and yes, shopping sprees feel GOOD...despite the pinch I'm going to feel for the rest of this month. When it comes to shopping for things whether planned or not, I like to mull my potential purchases over and over especially with higher priced items. Today's shopping was out of necessity as I needed to get something formal for a wedding I'm attending soon and something for a certainly chilly trip at the end of the year. Here's pictures of my most expensive and cheapest purchases today. (Oh and if you're wondering where is the dress for the wedding, my stupid camera made it look like it was taken from Wednesday Adams' wardrobe)

A windbreaker from Zara for an ouchy RM264
(yes, that is faux fur and totally detachable)

Forever 21 hair clips for only ... RM8!!
I love discounts!

Mooncake Festival

My family and I had a wonderful time celebrating the Mooncake Festival today. We spent quality time having a scrumptious dinner and playing with lanterns after. Here are some pictures from today's celebrations.

A Mooncake
(the egg yolk inside represents the moon)

Mummy dearest prepared a wonderful dinner for the family and surprisingly, it wasn't Chinese! We had fantastic bacon wrapped chicken, bbq'd lamb chops, potato salad and a broccoli-cauliflower cheesebake!

People were begging for scraps while the lamb chops were being cooked outback!

We hung colorful paper lanterns all over the porch and patio, adding to the mood of the festival. On the floor is Ian's squirrel glass paper lantern.

Almost no tree or plant were spared of decoration! The view from our patio was very nice with all the lanterns hung around.

Mummy dearest fixing up a plant with lanterns

Ian was happiest playing with his lanterns and sparklers!

It's become tradition for us kids to encrust the porch floors melted wax from playing with candles. Here's June burning some away!

Candles await their infinite doom...

Here's wishing you a Happy Mooncake Festival!

Kids really do say the cutest things

My mother was busy in the kitchen.

Chopping. Slicing. Rapidly.

Then the blade slit her finger.

Blood came.

My ten year old brother jumped out of his chair, frantic.

He rushed to grab her tissues.

She was touched by his alarm.

She dabbed.

He looked at her finger, thoughtful.

"Please don't get blood on my food"

Toys

Pokemons

Now Playing : "Fuel" - Metallica

If you are female, what kind of toys did you play with when you were younger?

What if you are male?

My sister had the typical girly toys to play with when she was younger. Barbies, tea sets, pastel colored horses. Ian, my brother has Power Rangers figurines, plastic swords, Pokemons.

Me?

Generally, I backed off the gender specific brainwash. I played with dinosaurs, Thundercats, cowboys and indians and admittedly...Power Rangers.

But at times, I also played with toys marketed to little girls--namely myself. Actually, make that "toy". I played with Little Ponies...but don't get me wrong, I had a massive collection of ponies.

Parents determine what their kids should or should not play based on one very key reason; what you play will shape you in your adulthood.

Sissy or tomboy?

Did you just cringe at all the negative implications stalking those two words?

Do playing toys "meant" for the opposite sex really determine how feminine or masculine a person will become?

I turned out just fine.

Because spending time with family is fun

June and I having a lil' quality sister chit chat time at TGIF

Delicious, fattening, artery hardening food!
The beef tacos were bad and we think you'd get a much better deal at the Mexican restaurant in Pavilion.
