Senior Year
Now Playing : "Wonderwall" - Oasis
It was 7:30am. I was giddy with excitement while driving to my first day of my senior year in university. I'm the kind of person who gets excited for exams (despite being ultra nervous about them) and dread sports days at school/university. A real big fat nerd really! Jules probably thought I was abit of a nutter to be so excited about announcing another four months of hell.
8:20am--twenty minutes into my first class and all the excitement had dwindled down into pure boredom.
The reunion and chatter with friends was extremely brief. Prof. Asha Doshi had jumped right into lecturing about Noam Chomsky and friends before I realized that my taking notes hand hadn't gotten back into shape to speed-write down all the notes from the projector screen.
I found myself drifting off into an oblivion of thoughts.
Periodic glances at my watch, and I found myself asking when class would end. The excitement had morphed into boredom and mutated into restlessness. Perhaps I wasn't as prepared for the start of bottom-numbing classes as I had envisioned.
But I am still glad classes are back on.
English Proficiency V class was quite interesting although a wee bit disturbing (but I won't be discussing just what). We finally have a male lecturer (who turned out to be a fresh doctorate graduate) Dr. Mahmud Hasan, whom I had the pleasure of finding out that he was of Bangladeshi origin. I found it really refreshing that he has broken (shamedly, admittedly I hold this at times) stereotype of Bangladeshis and I was intrigued by the fact that he was teaching us instead. I admit I have never come across a situation like this before and I really like it. I am ready and open to absorb all he can teach us with his knowledge of academic writing ('cuz quite frankly, I absolutely suck in academic writing).
Anyhoo, come struck 12 noon and wheeeeeeee! classes were over for the day! So a whole bunch of us, ten exactly, went to Vivo for lunch where the majority of us had the simply delectable Italian baked rice! Lunch wouldn't be complete with some photo snapping, naturally! It was a really good lunch with friends, making it even more special as it was our first day back and we are rekindling ties with one another.
Men, you might want to skip the following paragraph! *wink!*
Also, what made today interesting was June Lim's little demonstration of the differences of regular sanitary pads and her new direct-sales product--some miracle pad which name eludes me right now! It was quite amazing really, seeing June dissect a sanitary pad in full view of the public. But were we sold on her product? Hmmmmm!
Tomorrow is a longer day of classes. Wish me luck, people--let's hope it all goes well!
A shoutout to James, wishing you all the best luck in your exams!!
