Reignited 2.0
Now Playing : "What I've Done" - Linkin Park
How funny it is that the same day I blogged about rekindling my affair with LP, that very afternoon I go out and buy their new album! I was quite lucky actually, because I got it cheap(er) at a sale...it was going at RM36.90 wherelse elsewhere it was selling for RM45.90!
Let me just say that...Hybrid Theory was one of those albums where every song was perfect.
Meteora was the follow-up that didn't disappoint.
Minutes to Midnight however, should thank its stars that What I've Done was used in Transformers and its loyal fans who would still buy their albums even if the standard has gone down because it really has. Chester Bennington's vocals are the only familiar sound in the entire album. Mike Shinoda has gone on a rap hiatus. Joe Hahn has abandoned his turn table. This is a ballad album. What happened to the greatness of Linkin Park?? Where have all the head-trashing music gone to??
After such a long hiatus, you would think they'd return to us with a spankin' album but nooooo. It sounds like any rock album you could get from the likes of what's playing on the radio these days. The Nu-Rock masters seem to have lost their magic touch. Even What I've Done needed quite a few listens and its Transformers feature to be loved. What happened?? What happened?? If LP were planning on shocking its fans with their music...congratulations boys, you did it! Not in a good way too!
The thing I'm disappointed about is how this album makes one realize how crucial Mike Shinoda's raps were to LP's great essence. I want Mike Shinoda's raps! And Mr.Bennington needs to scream more!
The thing I'm disappointed with MOST is how LP has suddenly decided to go all "Parental Advisory". This puts me off! I liked them for their decision not to use swear words in their songs and now they choose to go down this lane--with this album??? What were they thinking?

Reignited
Now Playing : "Faint" - Linkin Park
I am guilty.
...of watching Transformers again for the second time last night. *wink* So sue me! The movie has got to be in the Top 3 most awesome movies I've watch this year thus far! The only other movie that I can recall being so good was Perfume. Butbutbut...I'm not here to talk about movies nor Transformers this time.
Jules, remember we thought that Michael Bay's use of Linkin Park's "What I've Done" at the ending was somewhat of a balloon popper? Well, after watching it for the second time, I did not get that feeling at all. Infact, for some reason, it went out with a perfect bang! In turn, it reignited my passion for Linkin Park!! Woooooot!
Ahhh...during my teen years, LP was the greatest band on earth (BSB of course, is a totally different story :P). Their music holds so many memories for me, it's crazy! I remember my group of buddies (at that time, all males) would come over to my house and spend the afternoon infront of the stereo just listening to Hybrid Theory! The guys would be at random, screaming "craaaaaaawwwlliiiiiiing in myy skiiiiiiiin!!" complete with air guitar movements and that screwed up face look of Chester Bennington's! *haha!*--though Crawling has got to be my least favorite LP song...because ex loved it. :) LP of course, also spawned the myriad of guys who tried to rap like Mike Shinoda. I think my friend M.H still does that...infact, he goes to great pains to look like Mr.S!
Then LP graced our shores with their presence, the concert was the hugest there ever was (attended by somewhere in the league of 27 000 people) it was the best thing since sliced bread--or at least until Muse came along with their concert! Yours truly had sung, screamed, shouted, yelled at the concert until her vocal chords were ffzzztt!! I had jumped around, and flung my arms all over the place so much that the next day I couldn't move! The funniest part about the whole concert was that while I went with my two godbrothers Daryl and Eric, I ended up being separated from them and spent it with another girl who also got separated from her friends!! I never found out her name though!
It's been a long while since I've done so much as listened to an LP song (with the exception of Faint since that's an awesome song) and now this morning, I'm listening to nothing but Linkin Park, rekindling the old memories. Ahhhhh....! Thanks to Transformers, a download of What I've Done is underway and perhaps one of these days, should I feel like parting with my cash, I might just pick up Minutes to Midnight and add it to my LP collection...*wink*

Here Not Be Spoilers!
Now Playing : "Starlight" - Muse
"I hope they make a sequel!!!"
"I hope they make a sequel!!!"
That's what I had quipped to Jules the very second Transformers ended. Our eyes were still glistening from the awesomeness of the movie. It was one of the most exhilirating movies I have ever seen; not a single boring moment--just full-on-blood-pumping-adrenaline-rushing movie!! Also, I point out its very uncheesy comedy that just compliments all the cool effects in the movie! To make things even more giddily exciting, today is the movie's opening day as well! Can you imagine the impossibility of getting great seats (or any seats for that matter) on days like these??! All Transformers fans listen up!! This movie will not be a waste of your RM11!
Also, what she said!! ---- > Incoherent ramblings.
