Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist (2007)

Now Playing : "Doomsday Clock" - Smashing Pumpkins

Quite frankly, I'm rather disappointed with the Pumpkins' newest album. None of the tracks really stood out, including Doomsday Clock, Tarantula, Starz and That's The Way (My Love Is) being mediocre but rising slightly above the rest of the album. I've loved the Smashing Pumpkins for a very long time (who can deny Billy Corgan's vocals?) and I thought that Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness, Adore and MACHINA were their best and absolutely brilliant albums...so for Zeitgeist, which seems to have returned to grunge, I need quite a few more listens to this album before I can get used to it.

That being said, if you're planning to buy this album thinking it's going to sound as brilliant as their previous three albums; think again. Hit the preview stands. While I don't actually regret purchasing the CD, unless you're willing to buy it simply because you love the Smashing Pumpkins, you may want to keep that extra cash.

There was never a doubt that Billy Corgan was the (only/chief) driving force behind the Pumpkins, but this is how I prefer to remember them--during their glory days as a quartet.

L to R : James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlain, Billy Corgan, D'Arcy

Dude, Where's My Room?

Now Playing : "Tritsch-Tratsch Polka" - Johann Strauss Jr.

"Where are me knickers?!?"

Give me a muppet to choke. Or better yet, someone build me a large red and yellow billboard which screams...

Do. Not. Pollute. My. Room. With. Your. Shtuff.

Or maybe something like this...

My room is totally and utterly polluted by other people's shtuff. Just wait until you see a picture of it--you'd be flipping through Yellow Pages for the environment police. I just spent an era trying to find my clothes under the massive piles of junk which seems to be screaming back at me;

"Go away, we're going to breed and build settlements and grow roots!!"

>_<"""""

Sooner or later, I'll be able to do splits because of all the limb stretching I have to do to just walk around in my room! Pity my toes lah people, with all the tip-toeing around the junk colonies that I have to do.

Pendatang Dari Bilik Sebelah, go back!!

Anyone ever watched that late night TV show that had two British ladies invading people's dirty homes to inspect the contamination and then clean it up for them? What is it called again? I bet if they took one glance at my room, terus faint lah.

I like my shtuff in an order and color-coded. You like yours sprawled everywhere, interestingly morbid like bodies littered around in Saw II. I'll even sponsor the industrial strength heavy machinery tractor thing. Just pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease for the love of God...

A Good Time

This totally cracked me up! I'm sure we've all seen this scribbled all over the public (and school) toilets...but have any of us actually called? I certainly haven't and even after this hilarious comic, I'm still not going to take my chances!

"OooOoOOooO!!"

Something I know Jules will definitely like!

I *heart* my t-shirt

I definitely want this as a t-shirt!

Hotel Room Sabotages

Beds!

Now Playing : "Honey" - Tosca

I'm back, folks!

I think I may need a holiday to recuperate from this holiday. My trip to PD wasn't as relaxing as I hoped it would be for a number of ridiculous reasons, although I won't go as far to say that it wasn't an okay holiday as well.

First off, our two hotel rooms were not adjoining and to get to the other room, we'd have to run up and down four flights of stairs. This being a family holiday, I didn't feel as though we had spent it being as a family when we retired to our separate rooms.

The biggest peeve I had with the hotel is that our toilet got clogged up and by the time it was 3AM, it was overflowing! That being said and being so late at night, I spent the first night with my entire right arm submerged in the toilet bowl trying to unclog the damn thing with a hotel-supplied toothbrush! Good thing it paid off--when I went to check in the morning, it was finally unclogged! Of course, our toilet seemed to like sabotaging us because later the tap produced no hot water!

The room was also not thoroughly cleaned, as I found bits of hair trapped under the legs of the bedside table. The extra blanket and small pillows reeked of old furniture smell and was dusty! Also, Jules and I got locked out from the room because as we opened the door, the loose metal latch caught on the door! It's a good thing that June was in the room at that time or else we'll have some major hard time getting back in!

This is pretty minor, but I've decided to include it in the list anyway. In the lobby, I saw several people with laptops and wondered if there was a wi-fi service available. So I went to a female staff person to ask and she said "no". So fine, I didn't think about it after that. Then on the last night, my dad shows me this small sign at the concierge counter saying that there indeed was a free wi-fi service!! Talk about not training your Legend Hotel staff properly! Terrible!

Also, we paid a visit to the ostrich farm but to our dismay, the maintenance of the place has dwindled drastically and all the poor animals looked quite absymal. I could be totally wrong about this if it was molting season though *blush*. From the looks of it, the park doesn't seem to be able to generate enough revenue to properly maintain the place and this is really not good, especially for the animals.

Err....

Anyone spot what's wrong with the picture above? We couldn't believe it when we saw it while we were walking alongside the beach yesterday. I'm not sure if this person knows that the Nazi flag is universally sensitive but to put it up at a toy stall is preposterous! I've got a feeling that whoever put it up must think it's cool to do so. *Eurk!*

Hopefully the next holiday I take would have better memories for me to take home.

Sand! Sun! Beach!

Port Dickson Legend Water Chalets

I'm ready and all packed to go.

I can't wait to try out the above water chalets, as I have heard they are very nice! Also, I reckon this short weekend trip to Port Dickson would be our last holiday for a long time to come as this semester we are given like, NO holidays this semester. Cis!

Don't miss me too much ya, I'll be back on Sunday.

Until then, drive safely!

Love, Me.

Introducing Jonah

Meet the newest addition to my Apple family;

Jonah.

I've got a look-see warrant...

Now Playing : "Porcelain" - Moby

I got tagged.

So, now thanks to dear cousin Kel (feel the wrath of my death stare *lol*) I have to show the world (or at least her, eh?) the contents of my handbag. Well, I've got news for you sista!!

The contents (or my handbag for the matter) is probably like the dullest there is. See the blue with white striped handbag on my laps in the picture down below? That's like the only handbag I own *mwuahahah!* Tells a lot about my shopping habits, eh?

"I'm the only one!! The oooooonly one!!!"

Bag, Unzipped.

Behold!!!!

The seemingly ordinary contents of my handbag!! The pink wallet that bloats when you stuff coins in, the green scrunchie that I almost never use but keep it anyway incase of an emergency, C&C pink grapefruit oil blotter which after 60 used pieces could probably manufacture its own brand of cooking oil (I can hear the ewwwwws already), never-leave-home-without-it black V-Moda earphones accompanied by Charlie, my 80GB iPod Video, a packet of tissues (this is occassionally forgotten :P) and finally, loose change dating back to my trip to Singapore last year jingling all about in my handbag.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Also always squashed into my handbag is my Nokia-I-can-never-remember-what-model-number-phone and my car keys down below.

"Hello, baby!"

Keys

I tag Jules and Cath. *wink*

Conspiracy!

"Let me tell you how the story ends...."

Now Playing : "Dance of the Hours" - Ponchielli

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!!

With reference to the previous blog post, I found out today from Jules that it's not just us students who are dying (heh, pun!) to know how the Harry Potter story ends, but apparently, one of our lecturers this morning let slip the ending of the HP saga!

Fate!

Good thing I had stayed home from going to class (had a major headache) or else I would have been totally and utterly pissed at finding out how it ends before finishing the book!

And yesyesyes, I know I've been over-blogging Harry Potter related posts. So sue me!

I'm Not Listening!!

Sue would've put her face there instead of an otter
 but she's suffering from zit-itis.

Now Playing : "Don't Look Back in Anger" - Oasis

"Lalalalala I'm not listeniiiiiiiing!!!!!"

Now try saying that repeatedly out loud at least another 10,000 times in one morning.

*Ick!*

I swear, everyone was sabotaging me today!

Front

Back

Left

Right

Everyone wanted to know how the new Harry Potter book ends!! OKOK, I don't blame them for wanting to know but come on people, can you wait until I flee from hearing range? And please don't elevate your voices in glee when I beg you not to spoil it for me because that's just cruel!! Jules, you weren't helping either--fuelling people's need to know the ending immediately by showing them the end of the book! Boo! :P

Damien Hirst's Creations

Now Playing : "Let Forever Be" - The Chemical Brothers

OK, I can't exactly remember to whom in the class were Faizal and I trying to explain who Damien Hirst was and what he did (during the installation/conceptual art discussion) but I happened to chance upon a picture of the formaldehyde shark masterpiece and it struck me to put some pictures of Hirst's masterpieces here. Enjoy!

What I wouldn't give to see these in person!

Now Playing : "Étude" - Mike Oldfield

I came across this amazing picture as I was doing my round of blog reading--I really should be reading my Harry Potter book since after going through only 26 pages, I am nowhere near finding out the end of the saga. Some of you already know I love whales and I thought I'd share this picture with you!

The best part of the English boo-boo above is that it was found in my Faculty of Languages and Linguistics.

Hypermarkets shoving wands up bookstores' *bleep!*

Excerpt from www.thestar.com.my

Now Playing : "You and Me Song" - The Wannadies

That complicates things, since I was going to go to MPH 1Utama tomorrow morning to buy my own copy of JK Rowling's final installment; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (did anyone notice how the article got the name of the book wrong? Some reporting!).

Earlier today, I did hear about these hypermarkets selling the highly anticipated books at these (cut-throat) prices but having to show up before 7am and face the highly possible masses turned me off and I would rather shell out RM109.90 to avoid all this.

But now, it seems that I have no choice.

If I do decide to join the hordes of people during the ungodly hours of the morning to get my book, wish me luck that I don't get trampled on or happen to hear some over-enthusiastic and impatient fan flip through the book to read the end of the book first.

Will definitely post pics.

Inverted Situations

Ewww....

Now Playing : "Rocket Brothers" - Kashmir

*AAAAAIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!*

I had screamed with all my might and leaped out of the bathroom while doing some funky chicken semi-dance moves thing. Normally, I'm not this enthusiastic about getting out of the toilet but just half an hour ago the most deeeesguuuusteeeeng thing landed first on my head, then travelled down my neck, plopped onto my boobs, sped down the side of my body and bounced off my hips right into the toilet bowl...*plooop!*

A house gecko.

Geli!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If there is one thing I hate after arachnids and insects, it's geckos! Ugh, them and their beady eyes and lagi ewwwy super adhesive bulbous digits! The mere look of them gives me the willies! Ironically enough, I do like certain kinds of lizards and have kept two green iguanas, Beau and Jonas. Ah, but I digressed!

These geckos normally love to hide in the kitchen trash can, so whenever I open it up to throw something away, five out of six times, I can expect one fat-ass gecko to go flying out from under the cover and landing on anything--that includes my feet! And of course each time that they do, I scream like there's no tomorrow. Aiiie, geli betul!

Still, better a gecko than a spider. Wah liao, if a spider ever touches my skin, I bet I'll be screaming loud enough to wake the dead

Shhh...!

While I'm busy screaming over tiny geckos, earlier tonight Jules and I went to watch a movie; Dead Silence. Initial plans were to just go for dinner and window-shop with my cousin Joanne, but since she bailed on us at the very last minute, we decided to take in a movie--one of our very favorite time killers! And we were far from screaming.

You see, unlike the gecko, Dead Silence was a horror movie--a B movie but nevertheless quite entertaining, especially with the direction recent horror movies go in lately. Digressed again. Pfft. Anyhoo, instead of screaming in fear...

...we were laughing!!!

But here's the best part; we weren't the only ones who were laughing but the entire cinema!! (Well, okok, so there were only about 25 people max in the cinema but stiiiiilll....!) For some reason, everyone had the collective tendency of laughing and giggling when a shock-value scene was about to happen--or is happening--and has happened.

Weeeeeirrd.

Jules can vouch for a secondary reason of laughing and giggling so much during the entire movie, though! Seated next to her was a guy our age who was clearly (and very animatedly) terrified of the not-overly-scary movie *lol* and kept his face half hidden in his upturned shirt collar and had his fists covering the side of his eyes as he whimpered and breathed heavily while he watched the movie!! He was probably genuinely terrified because at one point he actually walked out!

So yes, it was the first time that we experienced and audience who laughed in fear and a guy so terrified of a movie.

Fun times!

Ps. Methinks I got too enthusiastic with color options. >_<

Girlfriends

Now Playing : "Champagne Supernova" - Oasis

In light of the recent unpleasant yet amazingly bizarre events, I must admit that I was pretty angry for being wronged. Of course, doing what any sane person would do, with a teensy, suppressed frustration left somewhere in me, I put it behind me. But of courselah, you can only hold it in for so long before someone rubs the bottle.

Catherine,
because of you, I now have a better peace of mind and gained a better perspective of things.

Thank you.

I really don't say this often at all, infact probably never, but you have been like a big sister to me and thank you for the guidance and friendship and support which you have given me. I greatly appreciate it and feel very blessed!

Love, Me.
