Of things to come

Now Playing : "Wheels" - John Mayer

At times, I think that I'm sort of person who looks too much into signs.

Not the kind you see on the side of the roads or the one boldly declaring there's a sale going on in a store. No.

Signs, like things happening, whether good or bad, before a major event. Why I say this is simply because ever since I set out to buy my new car, event after event was unpleasant, deeply short of expectations and just downright frustrating. There just hasn't been one good experience so far and I wonder if these are signs of an bumpy experience with owning the new car. Of course, I put the blame wholly on the bumbling salesman that attended to me.

Sometimes, when things like these happen (no relation to the car), they turn out in two ways; one, that the signs really were signs and two, in the end I was able to say "putting up with all those frustrations paid off". I'm really hoping for the second option this time, since I pretty much have had lousy luck with my previous car and I'm already experiencing all kinds of bullshit before the new one even arrives.

I just pray that everything will go smoothly once I get my car.

Today Is A Good Day

Why?

1. Research paper *finally* completed

2. Lost another pound...which means...

3. Plateau broken

4. Got news that Spencer is almost at my doorstep

5. He did not go on another mission

All pretty darn self explanatory. :D

Winning a bet

Now Playing : "Apologize" - One Republic

...or at least trying to.

I'm flat out broke this month. Infact, I reckon I'm going to be quite broke for the next 10 years or so. Why you ask? Well, I've decided, after much hesitation, that I will buy myself a new car. Not exactly a milestone in life achievements that I had hoped to experience this soon but it came more of a necessity for safety's sake.

But oh my! I have digressed so! My bet--mwuahaha--is between my mother and I. She thinks that I won't be able to drag my lazy ass out of bed to go to gym at 6:30am (which is quickly approaching in less than 4 hours) and she's quite right. Countless times have I planned to get up early to go to the gym but each and every time I have failed. After a heavy dinner tonight, I figured that a gym call is necessary but the only time I have for it tomorrow is before 9am.

She has bet RM10 that I would end up sleeping through it.

And as I have mentioned, I am flat out broke...

Oops, Happy Birthday pops!! (hopefully you'll find use in the enormous mug I gave you...)

Decisions, decisions

The new Proton Saga in my preferred color ;)

I know I really want you

but can I really afford you?

I think I've just stepped into the door of making big financial decisions.

Eurk!

I'm giving myself one more week to think about it.

Hoodwinked

Now Playing : "Pavane Op.50" = Gabriel Fauré

Ok, I admit that when I bought my 1992 issued car for the bargain(ed) flat price of RM20K back in 2005 and being its fourth owner, I knew that this car would come with its own set of (possible) problems.

True enough, I was right.

It is now 2007 and it has gone through two years of problems ranging from interior and exterior parts falling off, numerous repairs for problems like the gearbox being burnt, and more-constant-than-usual replacement parts such as the spark plug.

So, just when I thought everything was going fine during a well-appreciated quiet period, yesterday morning my car couldn't start no matter how many times I turned the ignition--and I was going to be late for class!

I cursed.

I scolded the car.

I cursed again.

The problem didn't come too much as a surprise to me, however. From the very moment I had bought this car, it always had the tendency to need a few turns at the ignition to start, but it had always started in the end. I've tried to get it fixed since this is obviously not normal and my mechanic always replaces the spark plug.

I didn't really think much about this until last night when I called AAM to come fix the problem at my home. He took several minutes to inspect under the hood and to save him some time, I suggested that there may be a problem with the spark plug. However, to my surprise, he said that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the spark plug, but it was the battery instead.

I was like, huh? I did a quick mental calculation of the last time I had refilled the battery water. To my relief from thinking that it may have been my fault that the car couldn't start, he had announced that the battery that came with the car was not powerful enough for my car, especially with all the modifications that the previous owners had bestowed upon it.

Within half an hour, my car had a spankin' new battery and now it has none of the ridiculous starting up problems and purrs like a kitten (it previously had a very loud engine).

Then, I realized something.

If it had been the battery causing the start-up problems all this while, why the heck was my mechanic always changing the spark plug when there was nothing wrong with it?! Being a mechanic, surely he would have thought to check if it was the battery which was causing the problem, right?

Then I had the sinking feeling that maybe, just maybe, he just kept on changing the spark plug so that this problem would never go away and he'd always be in business.

Needless to say, now I've got my reservations about going back to this guy for my routine maintenance. I really don't want to be going to a dishonest man for shoddy--or dare I say, less than proper and honest--work on my car which, should fail in the middle of the highway, could cause irreparable damage to my car, and most importantly my passengers and I.

2 seconds

Two seconds.

That's how close I came to being killed on the road today. I swear, one of these days the government will cause us to die. Why do I say that??

Well let me tell you just why!!

I was driving home, and just as I was very close to the traffic lights, the green lights suddenly disappeared and I expected to see yellow lights come on, followed by red but noooooo!! Infact, nothing else came on after that and by that time, my car was in the middle of the intersection and suddenly all the other cars on the other side of the road began to move towards me!!! I couldn't even think when I saw all those vehicles coming very close towards me! But luckily my foot did the thinking for me (lol) and I flooooored it so that I wouldn't get hit and as I did that, I heard the cars braking and honking me. Sure, like it's my fault! But nevertheless, I was glad that they had the sense to brake if not we'd all be in some serious trouble.

It was a really scary experience, one of the scariest I've had so far on the road. I felt shaken up for quite some time after that, as the whole thing kept looping in my head over and over again. If I have a guardian angel, thank you soooo much for looking out for me--multiple times. I've been lucky and I got lucky this time...but I may not next time. Therefore, GOVERNMENT PLEASE BLOODY DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR *NEW* TRAFFIC LIGHTS WHICH SEEM TO KAPUT FROM THE STUPIDEST THINGS LIKE RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't imagine if we had hurricanes or earthquakes, we might as well not install traffic lights.
