Order of the Phoenix

Now Playing : "Misread" - Kings of Convenience

It's been a very long day and I'm falling asleep as I'm clickety-clacking here. So this will be short and sweet. As usual, I will not be providing a detailed summary of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix movie since you can find that in a million places all over the internet (plus, I don't wanna spoil it for you *wink) but I will tell you how I felt about the movie (without divulging much bits about it).

It was tough, deciding on whether I liked or disliked the movie.

If you have read the HP books, you'd know that as each book progresses, the story becomes darker--and the movie adheres to that. Very good! However, this caused the 2.5 hour movie to become a wee bit slowish in the first 2/3 out of the grand total. All the action was towards the end of the movie, which I think happened and finished too fast after being overshadowed by all that "slowness" or "seriousness"--whathaveyou.

The dialogue was skimped on some characters which I would have liked to have heard from more, but acting as usual was brilliant and the actress who played Dolores Umbridge was excellent because she had effectively caused me to absolutely despise her character--even more than I did in the book! I also loved the Luna Lovegood character and speaking voice. Cho Chang (Katie Leung) as usual was quite the eye candy!

Overall, the movie isn't bad but I personally think that Mike Newell did a better job with his style of directing. Or maybe it had nothing to do with direction (*scoff* Alfonso Cuaron) and what caused this movie to be less ooomph! was simply because HP is no longer a child's movie but one that is getting darker and angrier. It is definitely a far cry from the first movie, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone but I think hardcore Potter fans would still watch the movie and all the others that are coming out anyway, whether it sucked balls or not.

I know I would. *wink*

I do have one pet peeve with this movie, though. I wish John Williams had done its score because it absolutely sucked and did not the fit the movie at all! There were *some* good and fitting parts fer sure, but on the whole, the music was really un-Potterlike...that is, when there was music playing which was barely for 2/3 of the movie.

Jane, fret not! You should still spend that RM9 to watch the movie because being a HP fan, you wouldn't want to miss one, would ya? :P

I am falling asleep every three seconds! I'm off to bed!

Hurrah!

Now Playing : "Fingers in the Factories" - Editors

Before you say anything--yes, yes I know that I've blogged about Transformers a couple of times already! (If you think I'm crazy about Transformers, just wait until you see my fanatic tendencies with Thundercats. Woooot!!) I hadn't planned on buying the Ultimate Guide to All Things Transformers but I had to do what Julius Caesar would do! I went, I saw, I bought!!

But that's not the main reason why I'm ecstatic! Let's face it, buying blockbuster movie tickets near, on or at least a week after opening day is hell. You stand in line for eons and when you get to the counter, they smile and say "too late!!!!" WELL! Today, I've had the most amazing luck and I owe it all to Aunt Irene! Me and mum were having lunch (ran into high school buddy Terence Tan, who I haven't seen in yonks) when A.Irene (geddit? A.I? *lol*) calls up and asks us to buy Transformers movie tickets for her since we're near the cinema. So when we got there, there was a very small and unobstructive sign pasted at the ticket counter's glass saying that they were now selling advance tickets to next week's opening day of the new Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix movie!! My eyes bulged! I couldn't believe it, especially since earlier this week another ticket seller at the same booth told us that they wouldn't start selling the tickets until Monday! My heart jumped--I must buy the tickets now before anyone else finds out and it's all run out!! So I did, and to my glee, absolutely no-one had bought any tickets yet! Freakin' lucky we are! Jules you should worship me for sparing us of a long, loooooong ticket line next week!! So now, since I've got tickets, I'm spreading the word. People!! Tickets for Wednesday's shows are for sale at TGV at 1Utama!!!

Don't you just love going to the cinema? :P
