Pardonnez mon anglais - Partie 6

Now, I've seen quite enough bad English to last me a lifetime and because they are quite frequent where I live, they don't quite surprise me any longer. However, today I spotted this and it. just. totally. shocked. me. to. bits

LOL I suppose on some level, I'm somewhat offended by this. I mean, Malaysia has been multicultural for like the last 100 years or so? and they can't even spell "Chinese"? I know that there are like a billion Chinese, but that just makes it sound so...pluralized

*wince*

V-Moda

Taking No Chances : Ordered heaps of replacements!

Now Playing : www.solopianoradio.com

Today I received my ear rubber thingy replacements in the mail, after putting in an order for them last Thursday after I had lost the left ear rubber thingy in the library on the same day. I must say that I am very impressed with the speedy service V-Moda provides (I noticed it arrived in Malaysia at least four days ago but had to pass customs clearance first--why it took four days to clear some tiny rubber thingies is beyond me) and I highly recommend their high-quality earphones to the other audiophiles out there. It is definitely worth the price and you won't regret buying it. I've never been happier with any earphone purchase. Using them to listen to the online radio station I'm listening to now is pure heaven. I've also heard that Shure's earphones are perfect for this genre of music, but I haven't been able to afford those yet, so I can't tell you. :P

What a beaut!! (I've got these)

Another Brick In The Wall

Dr. Mahmud showed us Pink Floyd's Another Brick In The Wall music video today in class. However, I was sort of disappointed when it wasn't the version I liked. Here it is for your viewing pleasure!

Pardonnez mon anglais - Partie 5

Soooo, when the game gets boring, does that mean I can't...

Now Playing : www.radiodismuke.com

You know, I have often compared--in a good way--Jules' blog and my own. How I put hers on a pedestal because hers is so intellectually inclined while mine consists mostly of those which...aren't. You can pretty much tell that I do look up to her smarts. I admire it.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not really going to try to post more intellectual-sounding posts just to sound smarter. In fact, I don't think I want that kind of pressure on my blog. Maybe it bores some people, I'm not sure, but I'm just going to continue on blogging about the things and events that revolve around me.

I hope that doesn't make you think I'm unintellectually inclined, though.

I Must Not Fall Aslee....zzzz

How adorable!

Now Playing : "Singin' In The Rain" - Jamie Cullum

Gosh!

I am so embarassed!

Why? Because I nodded off in class today. Ah big deal! you may say but the problem is that I was frequently nodding off in Dr. Stefanie Pillai's (you do not fall asleep in her class) class and when she was standing in front of me while she lectured to the class, I nodded off so violently, my entire head and neck flung backwards only to be violently flung back forwards in natural reaction.

Of course, she saw this. >_<

The weirdest thing is that she chuckled instead and asked if I was okay and went on to say something about "identity crisis"--Jules and Shubes thinks that she may have thought my violent display of sleepiness was a response to her lecture (or question--I don't know, I wasn't listening because I was too busy falling asleep)!

Either way, although I got off lucky, I can't help but feel terribly embarrassed! I don't like nodding off in class but it's something I often do. Bah! However, today's nodding off I know the source of it....

Phil!!!!!!

I'm going to get you for this!

Mwuahahahah!

Just wanted to say...

All's Well

(despite a coming year of unpleasantness)

I'm Contented

Pardonnez mon anglais - Partie 4

Erm...

Err...who else then? XD

Sunway Pyramid

Now Playing : "Friends" - Ryan Adams

It's no secret that I really don't like going into Sunway (and Sunway Pyramid) due to its congested location and traffic jams. However, if someone offers to drive me then I don't mind so much.

Today, I had to make a trip to Sunway Pyramid and found out that they were building more parking lots. Although I applaud this, it was quite a big hassle not knowing how to get into the mall because their elevators and staircases were not yet opened up to the public. What made it worse was when we finally did find the way to the mall, it was a very long walk and the flood of people made the wait for the four elevators seem like an eternity.

Yeah, I really don't like going to Sunway.

Still, that wasn't the most unpleasant part of the trip today. As I was queueing (sp?) up to pay for my parking ticket, a guy in front of me had some problems in retrieving his change and the ticket. So naturally, he had to deal with the help coming through the intercom and thus, the line grew longer behind them.

It was no big deal, I could wait since I thought the problem would probably resolve quite quickly and if it didn't, I'd just go over to the next line. Like I said, it's not a big deal. However, there was this one super-impatient stout woman behind me who simply OVERTOOK me (and brushing against me in the process--ugh!!!) and demanded what the problem was!! The guy explained that there was some problem in retrieving the ticket and change but this seemed to have just gone over the woman's head when she said...

"can you let me go first???"

Eh woman, did you not hear them that there was a problem with the machine? Also, what makes you think that I'd let you go first--after me, you're only the third person in line! Surely you noticed that it's not only you who is waiting to pay?? I was completely disgusted by this woman's attitude.

So, I just left the line and hopped into the one right next to me, where my mother was already queuing up on my behalf after noticing there was a problem with the machine. The woman did the same, but after a quick peek on my part, I saw that she had to go right to the end of the very long line. Hah! Try asking someone to let you go first now! It amazes me really, how people can become when they're inconvenienced even by the slightest.

However, today's trip wasn't entirely lost as we bought this product called Choya Umeshu Plum Wine aperitif which after a sample tasting, tasted *so* delicious! The best part is that you could add it to other drinks! We bought the largest size bottle for only RM109.90 and I'm already itching to open it up! Unfortunately, the head of the house has put her foot down saying that it can only be drank during special occassions. Bleh. I'd most certainly recommend this to anyone!

"I'm On My Way!"

Now Playing : "Catch The Sun" - Doves

"I'm on my way!!"

That is perhaps the one line I hate to hear people say. I mean, how often have you had someone say "I'm on my way!" and you end up waiting an eon for them to arrive?? What constitutes as "being on the way" anyway? Does it mean...
  1. I'm 5 minutes from where you are?
  2. I just left the place I'm at to come to yours?
  3. I'm about to leave/or in the process of leaving the place I'm at to get to yours?
  4. I'm stuck in traffic while on the way to yours but I forget to mention that I'm in traffic?
  5. I'm halfway there?
It would be so much easier--and lessen waiting time a great deal if people would just give their ETA or at least more specifics than letting people wait endlessly!

What prompted this post you ask? Well, I was having dinner with the family earlier tonight and was supposed to wait for my sister to join us. However, when we were at the end of the meal, she had yet to arrive! So after a quick call, she announced that she was on her way.
.
.
.
.
.
10 minutes later...
.
.
.
.
.
Another quick call. "I'm on my way!!!" she screams.

"But where are you?!?!" we screamed back.

"Still at the gym--but leaving now!!"

The gym is at least 25 minutes away from where we were.

Why banned?

Now Playing : "The Racing Rats" - Editors

I remember last year when Phil insisted that I watched the Dawn of the Dead DVD which he had brought, I was quite reluctant. "Why would I want to watch a zombie movie??" I had lamented. I wasn't a fan of gore movies and I still haven't made the leap, but after he had made a good argument that a horror movie junkie like me shouldn't rule out zombie movies, I relented...hesitantly.

DotD turned out to be quite entertaining.

And so, I've decided that I'd like to have a copy of my own. It's been over a year since my first and only viewing and up till now, I've yet to find it for sale in any of the local DVD shops--pirated or otherwise. I've grown quite frustrated at the fact that I just never seem to be able to find it anywhere and was infact, rather puzzled, since they sell the other zombie movies including George A. Romero's old DotD.

Then just the other day, my question was answered. A shopkeeper had told me (after I had asked for the DVD) that DotD is banned in Malaysia.

I was like, WHAT?

For some reason, it is banned in Malaysia, and that's why I couldn't find it everywhere I went (why it's not found even in the pirated shops, I've no idea O_o) and the only way I could get my hands on it was to order it online. BUT THAT WOULD COST ME A BUNDLE!!!

Needless to say, I was quite perturbed by this fact especially when the most puzzling part is that the other zombie and gore movies weren't banned! Land of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Turistas, The Hills Have Eyes, Hostel...etc etc they were all there!!

Why did DotD get banned??

Why is it the only one that got banned out of all the (possibly worse) zombie+gore movies out there??? I've always known that the Malaysian Censorship Board here was kinda crazy but this is news, even for me!

Still, if anyone knows where I can get my hands on a copy of DotD in Klang Valley, please let me know, aite? Mucho gracias ahead!

All Hail The New Blogging King

Well Sue has been gracious enough to allow me to be a co-editor on her blog! I'm extremely flattered and I promised myself I wouldn't let it go to my head! But well by my title it seems that i have failed miserably so here goes: Wohoo I'm the best I'm going to be the top blogger here from now on!!! LoL well just kidding... for now at least :P Well since this is a blog may as well say something interesting that happened to me lately... Just spent the last couple of weeks in Poland as part of a team of soldiers walking 300km on a catholic pilgrimage. Was it worth it? heck yeah everything was much cheaper over there and I bought a whole bunch of cheap beer and vodka! All of that more than helped soothe the pain of the blisters and aching muscles so i'm good for now!! Well now i'm learning the pashto language with some new state of the art computer program for the army but only time will tell if a hard head like me can really learn anything from it :P

This is the chief signing out!

Visit Malaysia '07/100th Post!!!!

What a way to promote tourism!
As if the guy was The Incredible Hulk!

Damaged the car door indeed. Hah!

Newbie

Now Playing : "Lady in Red" - Chris de Burgh

Wow, it looks like I haven't posted in a couple of days and I barely even realized it! I do have some announcements and rants (as usual :P), however so listen up!

First off, Phil is finally back from Poland and I'm happy to announce that he is now my guest contributor to this blog, which means that if you see any funky lookin' post, it's probably his doing!! Ahkakakaka!! Naw, I'm just kidding really! But seriously, I have no idea what he's going to post so it'll be just a big of a surprise for me as it is for you heh heh! Also, can someone please convince him to change his profile picture (on the basis that I've got better ones *wink*)??

Number two. I have to go for breakfast now so I'll be back later to complete this post. LMAO!

Update
4:40pm. I'm back at home and it has been an exhausting day and embarrassingly enough, I kept nodding off in two classes. I just hope no one important noticed :P I had a lot of things that I wanted to blog about today, but after going for breakfast earlier, I pretty much forgot them all *lol*. I've got quite a load of work to complete and I have a bloody 8am test tomorrow which I have yet to study for so I'm not going to ponder on until I remember what it was that I wanted to blog about.

BUT

I do remember one rant at least. I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that the traffic light system in Malaysia is CRAP!! Absolute total crap!! There is always something the matter with the traffic lights--the best part about this is that DID YOU KNOW that even just rain always (keyword : always) causes the traffic lights to shut down which in turn causes chaos and endless jams and my blood pressure running up and my cursing becoming more colorful.....okok, you get the picture.

Everyday it's been raining--not hard, but it's not a drizzle either and everyday I have to put up with the new traffic lights (and you'd think it was the old ones that were futzing out on a ridiculously regular basis?) causing unneeded stress! Most days it's not working, some days the countdown counter counts either too little or too much causing heavy traffic, some other days the lights turn red too fast, allowing only about six cars out of 30+ cars through and some other other days the red light skips yellow and jumps to green (and vice versa) and causes pretty close calls (having been in one myself!)!! Also, sometimes green just never shows. >_<

Seriously, are you trying to kill us road users?!?
